SharePoint 2010 out of standard support later this year.

16 March 2015

From 13 October this year SharePoint 2010 (which must be on SP2) will be out of standard support and in extended support. This means that Microsoft will only be providing security updates for the product, not bug fixes, enhancements or changes required to support future clients, unless Microsoft decides at its own discretion to do so. We recommend customers start planning to migrate to the 2013/2016 version over the next 6 months.

For our iWorkplace customers on 2010 this means that we will no longer be producing new functionality or features for SharePoint 2010. Our effort over the last 2 years has been to support customers upgrading to SharePoint 2013 with corresponding iWorkplace upgrades and, more recently, providing cloud versions of some products to work with Office 365. Bugs in iWorkplace 2010 products can still be submitted for review via our support site.

Remember, your software assurance entitles you to the 2013 versions of all the products you have purchased. There are a number of improvements in 2013 over 2010 including document preview, better search, mobility enhancements, new social functions and many more.
