About Upper Hutt City Council

There are 42,000 residents of in the Upper Hutt area, just north of Wellington. The Upper Hutt City Council is the local authority responsible for the area stretching from Silverstream to the Rimutaka Hill summit, encompassing an area of 540 square kilometres. This is a huge area for a territorial authority, and with the rolling hills, expansive rural areas, the bustle of the urban landscape, and the trail of the Hutt River and State Highway 2, Upper Hutt is very diverse.
